sMail - Email for Kids™
Free Trial!
|
sMail is closed email system designed for parents and their children. With sMail, you and your
child must use the sMail Reader to read and send "email" only to other sMail users who are part
of your network of family and friends. You, the parent, control who your children can email. Setup
is easy and there are no passwords to remember for the children.
How does it work?
Simply download the sMail Reader and install it. When it runs the first time, it will ask you
for a real Internet email address which will become your parental control account. An activation
code and your initial parent password will be sent to that account. From the sMail Reader you can
invite others who are not on sMail yet to join and become part of your network. You only need the
real Internet email address of a parent. When they join, they can accept your invitation to become
part of their family and friends network. Then you and your children send them sMail emails.
Everything is graphical, so there's no remembering email addresses. Using Microsoft's Speech
technology, the sMail Reader will read messages and what your child writes outloud. The sMail Reader
was design to be very similar to real world email programs, as opposed to purely cartoony/kid-friendly
interfaces, to allow children and others to easily learn how email works so they can develop applicable
skills for the future. The sMail Reader, while fully functional, is simple and easy to learn and use
even for children as young as 3 years old.

How does it help me protect my kids?
Many other solutions provide parent controls for Internet email. The problem with those technologies
is that spammers, advertisers, and predators may still be able to reach your child. Also, a "real"
Internet email allows children to subscribe to websites and access unapproved parts of the Internet.
We believe that young children can benefit from communicating through email with their relatives,
grandparents, and friends, but need to do so in a "sandbox" where they are free to play in safety.
Your potential for getting harmful spyware or malware is significantly reduced since your kids can't
send harmful scripts or programs using sMail, only pictures and text. You control who your child can
communicate with and since their email accounts are protected through the sMail Reader and not
individual passwords, you can always browse and monitor your childrens' email activities.
