The JumpStart Index Maker creates first pass back-of-book indexes by using the Riptide™ algorithm developed by
melwin.net. The algorithm uses the latest technology in natural language processing to identify
key words, phrases, and names. The JumpStart Index Maker opens Microsoft® Word™ documents using your
installed version of Microsoft® Office™. It then breaks apart the document page by page and
identifies key words, phrases, and names within the page. The end result is TAB delimited file
containing the first pass back-of-book index in a format that is easily imported into popular indexing
software such as SKY Index, CINDEX, and MACREX.
While the JumpStart Index Maker is designed to be used as a pre-processor for professional index creation software,
it can be used by anyone who needs to incorporate a back-of-book index.
The Trial Version will process only the first 25 pages of a document. The Full Version will
process the entire document. It has been tested on manuscripts up to thousands of pages.
